Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
86guac is a small, positive-only review site for restaurants and bars. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, a password (stored securely and never visible to us), and the display name you choose.
- What you post: reviews, favorite dishes, and spots you add. Your display name and posts are public on the site. Your email address is never shown.
- Basic technical data: our service providers keep standard logs, such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps, to run the site securely and prevent abuse.
We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell or rent your personal information.
How we use it
- To create and run your account, including sending verification and password reset emails.
- To publish your reviews and spots under your display name.
- To keep the site positive and safe, including screening posts and limiting spam.
Who helps us run the site
We use a few trusted providers, who process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase stores accounts, reviews, and spots.
- Netlify hosts the website.
- Resend sends account emails.
- Anthropic powers Avi, our moderator. The text of each review and each new spot is sent to Anthropic's AI to decide whether it meets our guidelines. Your email address is not included.
We may also share information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
Your choices
- You can remove your own reviews at any time from the site.
- To delete your account and the reviews tied to it, email 86guacsupport@gmail.com from the address on your account. We'll confirm when it's done.
- You can also email us to ask what information we hold about you or to correct it.
Keeping data safe
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and access is limited by security rules on our database. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use elsewhere.
Children
86guac is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the changes are significant, we'll make that clear on the site.
